Making your website HTTPS compliant for Google
As a follow up to an email that was sent to customers starting on June 11, 2018 with notification of the HTTPS Upgrade option, this document will provide additional instructions on obtaining an SSL certificate and installing the certificate on your website. As stated in the original notification email; any questions are to be directed to https@storesonline.com
In early July, Google will start displaying a message for non HTTPS websites. The “Non-Secure” website message will only be displayed for customers using Chrome as their web browser.
To make your StoresOnline 7 web site secure for Google you will need an SSL certificate. You have the option of buying an SSL certificate from a third party of your choice or you may use the included instructions which will detail the process of obtaining an SSL certificate from secureserver.net.
Once you have obtained an SSL certificate, you will need to submit the certificate and key, to StoresOnline to upgrade your site to HTTPS. The form to submit the certificate and private key is located here:
The HTTPS upgrade is optional. Your website will still be accessible without it however, this means that Chrome users will see a “Non-Secure Site” message when accessing your non-https site. Visitors using Internet Explorer, Firefox, etc; will not see this message, at this time.
The HTTPS Upgrade option is not available for Stores 4 websites. You will need to migrate your site to a Stores 7 license in order to upgrade. If you need assistance determining what version your website is running: click on Keychain, if your license displays only the label “StoresOnline” it is a version 4 site. If the license display includes additional wording such as: Pro, Premium, etc., then it is a version 7 site.
